Taylor County Schools is proud to announce that Ms. Shelby Hinton will serve as Assistant Principal at Taylor County Intermediate School!
Ms. Hinton is a proud 2014 graduate of Taylor County High School. For the past several years, she has had the privilege of serving at TCIS as a fifth grade reading teacher, where she discovered her passion for helping students grow, supporting fellow educators, and building strong relationships with families. She believes every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and encouraged to reach their fullest potential.
As she steps into this new leadership role, Ms. Hinton looks forward to fostering a positive school culture where students feel safe, staff feel supported, and families know they are valued partners in every child’s success. Her goal is to help create an environment where learning, growth, and collaboration thrive.
Outside of school, Ms. Hinton enjoys spending time with her daughter, Hadleigh, exploring the outdoors, cheering on the Cardinals, and making lasting memories with family and friends.
She says, "I am so thankful for this opportunity and can't wait to meet everyone and begin an amazing school year together. Here's to a year of learning, leadership, and Cardinal pride! Go Cardinals! β€οΈπ€"

Members of the Taylor County Intermediate School Jr. Beta Club made an outstanding showing at the National Beta Convention in Nashville, June 21–23, 2026.
TCIS's Songfest team competed against more than 30 clubs from across the United States and earned an impressive 4th place finish.
The school's talented Solo, Duo, and Trio Variety Act, featuring Logan Parish on piano, Jayla Hood on vocals, and River Woods in lyrical dance, also brought home 4th place honors.
In addition, Jayla Hood and River Woods were selected to represent Kentucky as Premier Performers during the convention's opening session.
TCIS is filled with talented students who continue to exemplify the Beta Club pillars of leadership, achievement, service, and character. We are proud of these students for representing our school, community, and state with greatness!

Grades 1st–6th will participate in tackle football.
We’re excited to once again offer our flag division for kindergarten and 1st grade.
1st graders may choose between flag football or tackle with the 1st/2nd grade team.
This league is open to all boys and girls enrolled in the Taylor County School District and KCA students.

Taylor County Schools is launching a new mobile app to help students, parents, and community members know what is happening within the district from their phones!
Most families use their phones as their primary means of communication, so we've created a custom-built app! On the app, students, parents, and community members can read the latest announcements, locate staff contact information, review upcoming events, and find important documents. Most importantly, parents will access our new communication platform, Rooms, via the TCSD app!
The Taylor County Schools app is available to download for free from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.

Parents/guardians will need their Infinite Campus Parent Portal login to complete the registration. Please visit or call the Taylor County Board of Education if you need your login information.
